I love walking. I think that more people should walk. I would love to walk my way to a place far far away some day. Now I come across people who refuse to walk more than a half a mile unless it is a planned out exercise activity.
Walking is so much more than exercise though.
Walking is an endorphin high
Walking is therapeutic
Walking is going green
saving gas, and lowering air pollution
Walking is clearing my mind
Walking is taking another 30 minutes to get somewhere it takes half that time by car, and not caring because you had 30 minutes of fresh air and maybe a little human interaction.
This strange fear of movement is unhealthy. Think of all those people that have to "find" half an hour a day to be active... how about you walk to the corner store and back to get that gallon of milk?
There are obviously places in which it is smarter to drive.
There are just so many places we go everyday that we could walk to!
Where is this all coming from?
Yesterday I visited New York City. In the process I walked six and a half miles before I met up with my friends. They however wanted to take the subway for a six block radius or stuff to see.
That is ridiculous.
Walking.
We should all do more of it.
